Connect to openportability.org and follow the steps!

1. Download your X / Twitter archive
   You can download your Twitter archive from your X/Twitter account here: Settings and privacy > Your account > Download an archive of your data.
   You will receive your archive within 1 to 3 days.
2. Create a Bluesky or Mastodon account
3. Log in to https://openportability.org/ to connect your accounts and migrate your contacts

X has become the place of biased public debate and a real opinion manipulation machine.

Getting your X community back on Blue Sky and Mastodon is a fantastic gift! Migration will only be successful if we rebuild the social fabric elsewhere! That’s why our platform is so useful

The process (detailed on the escape-x.org website): 3 steps in 2x5 minutes:

1. I archive my X data
2. I create a mastodon and/or Bluesky account and connect my accounts to the application.
3. a few days later (once I’ve received my X data), I upload my data to the openportability.org platform so that I can be reconnected to my community.

Why EscapeX?

After the United States, Elon Musk is turning his attention to the rest of the world.

And X is its preferred tool for destabilising democracies.

We must not allow this to happen. Let’s weaken X. Let’s leave X en masse,

Putting his own profile forward: Musk has put himself at the centre of the game by modifying the algorithm so that his profile is recommended as a priority, moving from 80M followers in 2022 to 200M today. source

Closing opponents’ accounts: upon his arrival at the head of X, Musk closed the accounts of political opponents and journalists. source

Highlighting pro-Trump accounts: so-called ‘toxic’ content is highlighted by more than 49% in the recommendations feed. source

Disinformation: Musk produced and relayed a deep-fake of Kamala Harris as well as a fake campaign account that caricatured her programme so that the candidate became a repellent for part of his electorate

Intimidation: Musk has threatened some big accounts that want to leave X that if they stop producing content on X, they’ll give their login name to someone else. This was the case with NPR, for example. source

Risk of interfering in European political events: With its support for the far-right Reform UK party in the UK and the AFD in Germany for the February 2025 elections, and close ties with Giorgia Meloni, there is every reason to believe that Europe will be one of its next targets.
